Camp Hometown Heroes Volunteer Day
After being involved in a fundraising partnership with Camp Hometown Heroes and the Marquette Men’s Basketball team/Coach Wojo during the 2017-18 season, we fell in love with the mission of Camp Hometown Heroes and knew we wanted to continue supporting their cause however we could!
Our Great Midwest Bank team has been lucky enough to serve two fantastic volunteer days with our friends over at Camp Hometown Heroes this summer. This phenomenal organization provides a week-long overnight summer camp to children who have lost a parent, sibling or loved one who served in the U.S. military.
On May 16th and June 5th, we were able to lend a helping hand through our Simply Giving charity initiative. The weather was on our side both days, as we were able to get outside and prepare the grounds for the upcoming campers. We spent our days cleaning, organizing and planting.
Thank you, Camp Hometown Heroes, for the work you do for children around the country and for giving us the opportunity to contribute.
Camp Hometown Heroes is a national organization that provides a week-long camp experience in the woods of Wisconsin – but it’s not just any summer camp! Camp Hometown Heroes is a free summer camp experience specifically for children ages 7-17 from around the United States who have lost a parent, sibling, or loved one who served in the U.S. Military. It offers a safe space for children to grieve with others who understand and empathize with their feelings.
This unique community atmosphere is made possible through the support of individuals and organizations that are willing to donate their time or funds. Great Midwest Bank is honored to have been part of Coach Wojo’s fundraising efforts for Camp Hometown Heroes and congratulates the Marquette Men’s Basketball Team on their season.
