Casual For A Cause
Our team at Great Midwest Bank loves casual Fridays. It’s not just because we love a good pair of blue jeans — we’re also supporting a local cause we care about.
Casual for a Cause was sparked by our mission to do more for the local Wisconsin community. At the start of every year, our branch locations nominate organizations that help people (and animals!) in the Milwaukee, Brookfield, Hartland, Madison and Chilton communities. We then create a calendar of twelve selected causes. Each Friday, our staff donates toward the month’s cause and eases into the weekend with jeans and sneakers.
Fridays are our time to raise funds and awareness for organizations that make our communities a better place. When you stop by on a Friday and we’re dressed casually, we encourage you to ask us what organization we’re supporting this month. We’re passionate about our causes and welcome donations. Anything helps!
In 2023, we raised $15,105 for 12 local charities including: St. Jude Hospital, WAGS, Alzheimer’s Association, Street Angels, Camp Hometown Heroes, The Women’s Center, Wildlife In Need Center, Habitat for Humanity, Association for Handicapable People, HeartLove Place, Make-A-Wish Wisconsin, Lucky Clover Rescue.
2024 Charitable Organizations
This year Great Midwest Bank continues its efforts by supporting:
January: Autism Society of SE WI
The West Allis branch chose the Autism Society of Southeastern Wisconsin. Branch employees Karen and Christine both have family members with autism and this cause is very special to them.
February: American Family Children’s Hospital
Our Madison branch collectively chose American Family Children’s Hospital because they passionately support their mission and recognize all the good they do for the community.
March: Tunnel to Towers
Our Brookfield Loan building selected Tunnel to Towers because their cause resonated with them, and they feel strongly about supporting the first responders of the community.
April: Lola’s New Beginnings
Our Greenfield branch selected Lola’s New Beginnings, a non-profit focused on the support of women before, during, and after pregnancy. Loan officer Jennifer Lamb served on their financial literacy team and loves what this organization stands for.
May: Camp Hometown Heros
Great Midwest Bank proudly supports Camp Hometown Heroes to honor and empower the children of fallen U.S. service members, providing them with a supportive community and lasting memories. By backing this important cause, Great Midwest Bank demonstrates its commitment to supporting local heroes and their families.
June: Chosen (In Love)
The Brookfield Branch/Administrative building elected to support Chosen (In Love). They appreciate all the work the organization does for the children of our community.
July: MKE Strong
The Hartland Branch was touched by MKE Strong’s mission. Their goal is to support and point kids of the Harambee and River West neighborhoods in the right direction through a variety of services.
August: Habitat for Humanity
As a local community bank, we proudly support Habitat for Humanity because we believe in their mission to provide affordable housing solutions for families in need. This partnership reflects our commitment to community development, social responsibility, and the shared goal of creating stable and thriving neighborhoods for everyone.
September: Friends of Ledge View Nature Center
Our Chilton branch picked the Friends of Ledge View Nature Center. This organization is near and dear to the members of the branch for a multitude of reasons. Including, most recently in 2023 when they set up a memorial in memory of a customer of the branch that passed away.
October: Guest House Milwaukee
Our Bayside branch wanted to do something local, which led them to Guest House Milwaukee. Guest House Milwaukee’s goal is to provide shelter, housing, education, and services to Milwaukee’s homeless who seek to transform their lives with dignity and purpose.
November: Make-A-Wish
Make A Wish was an easy candidate to elect back-to-back years for the month of November. Make-A-Wish creates life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Wishes can build strength and hope in children that are fighting.
December: Sojourner Family Peace Center
Our friends over at the Southridge office chose Sojourner Family Peace Center. Sojourner provides a place of safety, peace, and healing to 8,000 people a year who have and are facing domestic violence.
