Connecting with Community Through Seasons of Simply Giving

At Great Midwest Bank, we’re passionate about giving back to the community. That’s why we started our Simply Giving initiative, which focuses on opportunities to work with local organizations to volunteer, educate, and donate.

Over the years we have been involved in volunteering opportunities such as Block Build MKE, educating children at local schools about finances, and donating to Garding Against Cancer. Our staff also participates in Casual for a Cause throughout the year, which focuses on supporting a different organization each month.

We are always asking ourselves what else we can do for our local community, and are pleased to share our latest initiative: Seasons of Simply Giving.

Introducing Seasons of Simply Giving!

After putting on our thinking caps, we had an “aha” moment. We thought: We put effort and resources into promoting our bank… why not channel some of our marketing budget and use our voice to help amplify the messages of local charitable organizations?

That’s when Seasons of Simply Giving was born — a natural extension of our Simply Giving program. We work to serve the community and recognize that local nonprofits are a crucial resource for the community. We formed our Seasons of Simply Giving program to help support local organizations that align with our core values.

Starting this year, Great Midwest Bank will dedicate a portion of our annual advertising budget to help bring attention to an event or message our charitable partners want to promote. Our team puts together a structured promotional program at no cost to the nonprofit. We then use our own platforms and media partners to bring more awareness to each nonprofit we partner with.

It’s an exciting way for us to contribute to the greater good and rally around a wonderful local cause.

An Exciting “Plunge” into Seasons of Simply Giving with Special Olympics Wisconsin

In our first Seasons of Simply Giving initiative this past Winter and Spring, we worked with Special Olympics Wisconsin (SOWI). SOWI hosts an annual Polar Plunge fundraiser, in which participants jump into cold bodies of water to raise money and awareness for the organization.

We developed radio messaging and social media posts to promote the Polar Plunge and help get the community involved in the event.

Great Midwest Bank Senior Vice President, Mortgage Operations, Jon Reetz explains why GMB is getting behind Special Olympics Wisconsin’s Polar Plunge.

Our team walked the walk, too (or, plunged the plunge?). We formed a Great Midwest Bank Polar Plunge team, and our very own Jon Reetz took the Plunge! Radio personalities Jen Lada (ESPN) and Josh Albrecht (WRNW) joined us, as well as our marketing partner Al Balda from sōsh.

The result? An unforgettable experience surrounded by powerful messaging that reached the local community.

Walking with Alzheimer’s Association

We are passionate about our Wisconsin community. In our Seasons of Simply Giving program, we love partnering with local nonprofit organizations that make a big local impact. This Fall, we are proud to work with the Wisconsin Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association to get the word out about the Walk to End Alzheimer’s!

About the Alzheimer’s Association

The Alzheimer’s Association is the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer’s care, support and research. Their continuing support of dementia research, risk reduction and early detection helps the world walk closer to an end of this devastating disease.

We are so lucky to have the Alzheimer’s Association as a resource in our community. They help people affected by Alzheimer’s and all other dementia, offering support groups, care resources and a 24/7 Helpline to answer any questions about the disease.

Access the Alzheimer’s Association’s free Helpline at 800-272-3900. Visit alz.org to learn more.

The Walk to End Alzheimer’s

The Alzheimer’s Association’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s is their biggest event of the year. The Walk raises money and awareness for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. It’s happening all over Wisconsin this Fall, with 27 different walks!

This event makes a significant local and global impact in helping continue the work to end Alzheimer’s and other dementia. The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is powerful and meaningful—and it’s a wonderful way to come together as a community and have fun. So, come be a part of it!

Let’s Walk Toward a Future Without Dementia

We all know someone who is living with dementia or has a loved one affected by the disease. Maybe they are a family member, friend, or someone in the community. Walk for them.

Join us in supporting the Alzheimer’s Association’s mission to end Alzheimer’s and other dementia. Find your local walk and register your team at alz.org/walk.

Our Great Midwest Bank team will be walking on September 17 at Milwaukee’s lakefront. We can’t wait to see you there!
