A Summer of Simply Giving

September 16, 2019 By: Great Midwest Bank

The summer of 2019 was jam-packed with opportunities for our Great Midwest Bank team to take part in our Simply Giving charitable initiative! From days spent helping out at Camp Hometown Heroes to hitting the links with Ronald McDonald, there was no shortage of volunteers, events and smiles.

We had two great volunteer days with Camp Hometown Heroes this summer cleaning up around the camp before the kids got there. This organization provides a free week-long overnight camp for children who have lost a parent, sibling or loved one who served in the U.S. military. Our task was to help prepare the grounds by cleaning, organizing and planting. It’s always nice to get our hands dirty in our community!

We also had a wonderful day golfing at the Ronald McDonald House Charities Eastern Wisconsin Golf Classic 2019 where Senior Vice President Jon Reetz was able to enjoy some time with the man himself, Ronald McDonald! The day was full of golf, raffles, contests and prizes.

This summer also featured several different Casual for a Cause Fridays. On the third Friday of each month, our Great Midwest Bank team is able to wear jeans in exchange for a small donation to a predetermined charity of the month. Our charity in May was Camp Hometown Heroes. In June we donated to Alzheimer’s & Dementia Alliance of WI. July’s charity was the Lake Country Area Free Clinic, and in August we donated to Habitat for Humanity.
