MORTGAGE LOAN OFFICER – MADISON, WI

Great Midwest Bank is seeking an experienced Mortgage Origination Professional to join our Madison, WI office.

As a Mortgage Loan Officer with Great Midwest Bank you will be responsible for the origination of residential mortgage loans, generating new business along with promoting and marketing mortgage products and services to clients and referral sources. Great Midwest Bank offers a variety of home mortgage products including Conventional, Portfolio, Renovation, Single Close Construction, WHEDA, Bridge, and Home Equity loans. The loan officer will generate most of their business externally using their existing referral sources. Networking and relationship building activities will be integral to this individuals’ success.

 Great Midwest Bank offers a competitive salary based on the loan officer’s production goal (pay is not commissioned based).

DESCRIPTION OF MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and manage a large pipeline of mortgage customers while ensuring timely loan closings.
  • Perform all loan origination activities while adhering to compliance regulation and Bank policies and procedures. Remain up to date on industry, compliance and Bank policy and procedures.
  • Manage customers through the entire loan process, from data collection and analysis through loan closing while maintaining positive customer relationships.
  • Set proper customer expectations and provide timely status updates to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Seek prospective opportunities to retain and/or develop new client and referral relationships.
  • Collaborate with management to develop and prepare loan solutions, products and services.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum two to four years’ experience as a successful mortgage loan originator is preferred.
  • Two-year associate degree or four-year college degree is preferred.
  • Strong verbal, written and listening skills to effectively communicate with customers, team members and management.
  • Ability to demonstrate control, flexibility and maintain high quality and productivity when dealing with customers
  • Excellent in problem solving, planning and time management skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, fluidly changing industry
  • High integrity and confidentiality required.
  • Current referral base from Realtors, Financial Planners, Builders, etc.
  • Proficient in PC skills in Microsoft Windows, Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Experience using a mortgage loan origination system, Encompass a plus.
  • Knowledgeable on current lending regulations.
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to discuss clearly the rates and terms of a transaction, evaluate credit requests for the appropriate mortgage product and coach applicant on options to improve the likelihood of approval if denied.
  • Strong understanding of the Conventional, FHA, VA and WHEDA mortgage programs including the processing, documentation, underwriting and closing requirements.
  • Working knowledge of qualified mortgage and ability to repay guidelines from the CFPB.

LOAN SERVICING ASSISTANT – BROOKFIELD, WI 

For over 80 years, Great Midwest Bank has maintained a strong reputation as a provider of top quality mortgage and banking services to the communities that we serve. We currently have an opening for a full time Loan Servicing Assistant at our Brookfield Office location at 15900 W. Bluemound Rd.  The position supports loan servicing functions, delivers comprehensive and prompt customer service to internal and external customers and exercises quality control oversight in the execution of all duties.

Key functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Deliver excellent customer service to internal and external customers in the execution of all assigned loan servicing duties within service level standards.
  • Prepare payoff quotes as written requests are received from escrow companies, branches and clients.
  • File recordable loan documents
  • Receive and post incoming payoff checks and insure any overages are returned to the client.
  • Prepare the lien release for real estate secured loans.
  • Assist department with other daily functions.
  • Set up ticklers for financial tracking
  • Performs other reasonable duties, including back up of other loan servicing staff, as assigned by immediate supervisor.
  • Remain informed of changes in bank policies, procedures, and products.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Job Requirements:

  • Position requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years of bank loan servicing, loan originating or loan operations experience or a combination of lending and general banking experience required. Experience in real estate lending processing and documentation is beneficial.
  • Able to deal effectively and tactfully with internal and external clients.
  • Can function well under deadlines.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to prioritize workflow, balance multiple priorities and deadlines, and manage a variety of projects in a fast-paced, flexible work environment with strong attention to detail.   
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office application and Fiserv Clear Touch processing system
  • Regular, consistent attendance.
  • Ability to use independent judgment and discretion in various situations while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality.
